Start your blog
Connect your blog to a domain, link Google Search Console if you want to, and finish the setup so your first post can go live.
- 1Open Blog from the workspace menu. The first time, the launch guide opens on its own.
- 2In step 1, connect your domain. Use a subdomain such as
blog.yourcompany.com(recommended, about 5 minutes) or a folder on your site such asyourcompany.com/blog. - 3In step 2, connect Google Search Console to see searches, clicks and rankings for your posts on the dashboard. It is read-only and you can select Skip for now.
- 4In step 3, review what is ready and select Open my blog.
- 5On the Dashboard, work through the setup checklist: name your blog, style the design, publish a first post, make the blog public and get a first subscriber.
A blog on your own domain keeps the search value of every post with your company.
The blog is a separate area of your workspace with its own dashboard, posts, categories and tags, subscribers, lead forms and design. Your press releases and newsroom are not changed by anything you do here.
A new blog starts private. Nothing is visible to readers until you switch on Publish the blog in Settings, under Blog. Drafts always stay hidden until you publish them.
The setup checklist on the dashboard ticks itself off as you work, so you can see at a glance what is left.
